Elected to the Hall of Fame, Lue Led Cavaliers to NBA Championship in 2016
Former NBA coach Tyronn Lue has been re-appointed as head coach of the Cleveland Cavaliers. Lue, who was previously in charge of the team from 2016 to 2018, led the Cavaliers to their first and only NBA championship in 2016. He was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2019.
Lue's return to the Cavaliers comes after a successful stint as head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers. He led the Clippers to the Western Conference Finals in 2021 and was named the NBA Coach of the Year in 2020. However, he was fired by the Clippers in 2023 after a disappointing playoff performance.
The Cavaliers have struggled in recent years, finishing with a losing record in each of the past three seasons. However, they have a promising young core led by Darius Garland, Evan Mobley, and Jarrett Allen. Lue will be tasked with helping the Cavaliers return to contention for a championship.
